Saint-Étienne – best times to visit
Somewhere between Toulouse and Lyon, Saint-Étienne has a climate of its own, thus proving the diversity of the Loire Valley. The first thing to note is that winters in Saint-Étienne are rather harsh; still, the amount of snow proves rewarding enough to make winter still a nice time to visit Saint-Étienne. Anyway, most visitors arrive during summertime, as this is when the weather in Saint-Étienne is the most reliable.
Things are busier in high season, but despite the crowds, summer is a lovely time to be here because much of everything moves outdoors. The coldest months are obviously January and December, while the warmest are by far July and August with average temperatures of about 20ºC. The annual average temperature in Saint-Étienne is of 11-12ºC.
You can also enjoy strolls on the old streets and take a peek at the houses and civilization signs both in spring and autumn when the evenings are not so chilly and the mornings still shiny.
